KTT Smart Move
Creating a Culture of Safety in the Piano Community
First and foremost in our approach to the design and manufacturing of all our products is the safety of the pianos and the humans who move them. Designed for piano industry professionals in schools, shops, dealerships, or out on the road, our proven technologies will save you thousands of dollars each year while adding a huge margin of safety to your moving experiences.
Moving pianos of any shape or size is a labor intensive, strenuous process and can expose movers to possible injury and the piano to extensive damage.
Not all hazards can be eliminated from the process but those situations should be eliminated to every extent possible by employing proven technology into every move.

Leonard Ostrander
Founder and CEO
Leonard’s affinity for all things mechanical began early in his life. Beginning at the age of five, under the tutelage of his father, he began honing his skills in woodworking, later developing his mechanical and fabrication skills in the family’s machine shop. A second-generation piano technician and restoration professional, he has provided tuning and technical services to a private clientele as well as institutions including The University of Maryland, The Cleveland Institute of Music, the Cleveland Music School Settlement, Ashland University, and Ithaca College.
Leonard earned his BA in Piano Performance from the University of Maryland continuing his graduate studies in Choral Conducting at the University of Miami, and in Piano Performance at the Cleveland Institute of Music. He has performed as a Two-Piano team with his sister Katherine Ireland as the Ostrander Duo, performing at The Juilliard School at Lincoln Center, and with his former wife Jeanette Davis as the Davis-Ostrander Duo, winning second prize in the Ellis National Two-Piano Competition. Rounding out his interests is his passion for aviation.
He holds a Commercial Pilot Certificate in both Single and Multi-engine aircraft, is instrument rated and is a Certified Flight Instructor. In addition, he enjoys flying Gliders and is an avid Skydiver. When not in the workshop, he can be found building a Van’s RV-8 aircraft which he hopes to be flying soon in Aerobatic Competitions.
